Jon Langford and Sally Timms of the Mekons with friends – Sonic adventurers, punk rock fundamentalists, exuberant luddites, willing outcasts. The genre-defying Mekons formed in Leeds, England in 1977, born form the emerging British punk scene. They progressed from socialist art students with no musical skills to the prolific, raucous progeny of Hank Williams. For this house concert, Jon Langford and Sally Timms will be joined by Chicago guitarist John Szymanski. They’ll play a bunch of songs from the Mekons catalog plus stuff from Jon’s and Sally’s solo careers and as well as covers by fellow travelers like Alejandro Escovedo, Handsome Family and Joe Strummer.
